Cloud Nine

I'm still working on getting my new home unpacked and set up. I'm so tired of cardboard boxes, and not being able to find anything. I'm also realizing just how small this apartment is, and how little storage space it has. In all truth, I knew that any apartment I could afford would be smaller than my previous one. That's one of the reasonswhy I resisted getting a bunch of stuff to fill up the old apartment. I knew that I would not live there forever. I did not anticipate, however, why I would move out. I had hoped to spend at least a decade there, if not 2. Maybe this is best considering I don't have to worry about shoveling snow this winter. I've also enjoyed my morning tea on my deck yesterday and today. It is getting a little chilly out there, but nobody pays any unwanted attention to me sitting outside, and there's less ag dust in the air. While there are some farm fields around, I can't see them from any of my windows. I'm working on making my apartment a happy place to live. I doubt that I will ever feel like I live on cloud nine, but I can try to make things better. Speaking of cloud nine, it is the name of another tea that has long intrigued me. It is green tea blended with strawberry, rhubarb, and raspberry. Admittedly, I don't like rhubarb, but I have had fruity tea blends before that involved rhubarb that were actually good. I wasn't sure if this would be one of those or not. Thanks to a curious coworker, I got a sample of this tea. It had a very surprisingly sweet scent when I opened the bag.
I gave it a brew for the recommended 3 minutes.
I gave it a taste. It is really sweet. You also have to appreciate I stay away from sweet tasting foods and drinks. The sweetest thing I eat on a regular basis is blueberries, so it doesn't take much for me to think something is incredibly sweet.
Overall, I can't identify a singular fruit flavor this has. It is a generally sweet, generic fruity flavor.

      Me too. I decided that I wanted to get my bedroom put together today. No boxes are left sitting out. There were some random things thrown in the closet to deal with later, but I can close the door and not see it. It's cool today, so I also have windows open to air the place out.

Have a cup of Christmas

I'm skipping ahead just a little bit because of a Central American holiday tradition. The hibiscus flowers are in bloom, and it's tea season. In this part of the world, hibiscus tea is known as "sorrel" instead of " bissap ". While my research on the tea of North America is not complete, I found that several countries make sorrel for Christmas. Trinidad and Tobago , the southern most Caribbean islands. They gained their independence from the UK in 1962. They are a continuation of the Andes mountains from Venezuela. They have a tropical climate, and temperatures vary widely between day and night. They used to grow a lot of sugarcane, but the last of the sugarcane estates was closed. Cocoa and coffee are also export crops. Ataya/Waraga/Tuareg Tea

"Berber Whiskey" What do you make on a Saturday afternoon when you're tired? I mean really tired. Like you just woke up from a 3 hour nap, and all you want to do is go back to sleep. I will admit I was a bit leery of this one when I found out how it was made, but this is wildly popular so I had to try it. This version of tea has many names, and some sources say that this is used like alcohol in cultures that forbid drinking and using drugs.  Ataya (or attaya - I've seen it spelled both ways), also known as Tuareg tea (so named for the Tuareg tribe), is a very social tea ceremony in West Africa. Most reviews say to expect to take at least 3 hours and have several rounds of tea. Over time, each round of tea is supposed to get milder and sweeter. Sometimes instructions say that mint is added.
